We are delighted that Dean’s Garden Centre has chosen us as their charity of the year for 2011. This is a huge boost for us and we are very excited about having the opportunity to work alongside them.
Dean’s Garden Centre will be holding a number of charity events for us throughout the year including a Biker’s Charity Night at their store in Stockton on the Forest from 7pm on June 22, a treasure hunt in Scarborough on June 28 and two charity Cricket matches in July.
We are also happy to announce that on June 13 our local Sainsburys store in Scarborough nominated us as their charity of the year for 2011/12. We are very excited to have this opportunity to work with them.
Healthy eating is known to have a significant impact on a person's mental health and we know this is very important to Sainsburys through their "Best for Food and Health" campaign. We look forward to sharing the benefits of this partnership with all of our members and working towards improving mental health throughout the community.
Our Funders
SWR Mind is supported by a range of funders.
North Yorkshire County Council Adult and Community Services funds some of our work in Whitby. Their contribution helps to run our building base in Whitby town and supports some of our volunteers who help people with mental health problems to find and use information and support in their local communities.
North Yorkshire County Council, through it's Innovation Fund, also supports our partnership with Carers Resource (www.carersresource.net), to help carers with mental health difficulties to find and use support within their local community.
The BIG Lottery has generously supported us since 2006. They fund three of our staff and enable us to recruit, train and support a team of up to 95 volunteers. Their support means that we can help many people throughout Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale to get more involved in their local communities and have a better quality of life.
Awards for All, also a BIG Lottery funding source, is currently funding us to develop five additional training modules to enhance the range of training that we are able to offer to our volunteers, service users and the general public.
North Yorkshire County Council, through its ‘Supporting People’ programme, pays for three part time employees, supported by eight volunteers, to help up to 23 people in Scarborough to live independently in their own homes, and participate in community life.
We have a contract with Echo Access Ltd who runs Scarborough’s Equitable Access Centre (Castle Health Centre). They fund three part time workers to help people with mental health problems in Scarborough town to find and use help and support in their local communities and beyond.
The Scurrah Wainwright Charity helps to run our building base in Scarborough.
National Mind pays for one part time member of staff who is responsible for helping us to provide and maintain a good quality service.
The Department of Health Volunteering Fund is supporting us to help people with mental health problems in Ryedale and Whitby to find and use support in their local communities.
